Os presento uno de mis últimos trabajos, "The Gingerbread Boy", para la Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) de Colorado Springs. USA.

Os muestro varias ilustraciones de un trabajo en proceso que va bastante lento, pero seguro que consigo sacar tiempo para terminarlo algún día. Algunas veces avanza en una dirección, otras veces en otra, llevo varios años desarrollándolo en mis ratos libres.
Espero que os guste.

I show you several illustrations of a work in progress that is quite slow, but I'm sure I'll find time to finish it some day. Sometimes it advances in one direction, sometimes in another, I have spent several years developing it in my spare time.

Dibujando con los niños. Vuelta al cole. Drawing with children. Back to school.

Esta entrada de hoy la dedico a un día muy especial. La semana pasada estuve con los niños de 5 años del colegio donde va mi hijo mayor, Rubén. Estuvimos leyendo mi libro "Martin y las estrellas", y mientras la profe de Rubén lo leía y les hacía preguntas, yo dibujaba a los personajes protagonistas. Me lo pasé en grande, y me encantó ver como les gustó la experiencia de verme pintar para ellos. Iban adivinando lo que veían y se emocionaban.

I dedicate this entry to a very special day. Last week I was with the children of 5 years of the school where my son Rubén goes. We were reading my book "Martin y las estrellas", ("Martin and the stars"), while Rubén's teacher read it and asked questions, I drew the main characters. I had a great time, and I loved feeling how they liked the experience of seeing me paint for them. They were guessing what they saw and were excited.

Los niños también tuvieron la oportunidad de colorear sus propios personajes de "Martin y las estrellas" y mostrarlos en los pasillos de sus aulas, para que todo el mundo pueda ver lo artistas que están hechos.

The children also had the opportunity to color their own characters of "Martin y las estrellas", ("Martin and the stars") and show them in the corridors of their classrooms, so that everyone can see what artists are made.

El dibujo está hecho con tiza de colores sobre papel.

The drawing is made with colored chalk on paper.

CREACIÓN DE PERSONAJES. CREATION OF CHARACTERS.

Os muestro los personajes principales de la historia y una fotografía del proceso de abocetado.

These are the main characters of the plot and a picture of the drafting process.

STORYBOARD.

Siempre hago un "storyboard" del libro completo para tener una visión global de cómo quedará. Es una herramienta que nos viene muy bien a la editora y a mí.

I always do a complete "storyboard" of the book in order to get a global vision of how it will look like at the end. It is a big and helpful tool the editor and myself.

STORYBOARD  PRUEBA DE COLOR. STORYBOARD COLOR TEST.

No suelo hacer una prueba de color del storyboard, pero en este caso nos venía muy bien tener una visión global de la paleta de color del libro y en concreto de cómo quedaría cada ilustración. Los colores son digitales, es más fácil y rápido para mí mostrar así las pruebas de color.

I'm not used to make a colour test of the storyboard, but in this case it was very interesting to count on a overall view of the colour palette for the book and more focus on how would each illustration look like. The colours are in digital, it is easier and faster for me to present the colour trials in this way.

Estos son algunos de los bocetos junto con la ilustración terminada, la técnica que he utilizado es una técnica mixta de acuarela y lápiz de color.

These are some of the sketches together with the finished illustration. The technique I've used is a mixed technique of watercolor and colored pencil.

Me ha encantado crear a los protagonistas de este libro, me gusta mucho dibujar pájaros.

I have enjoyed a lot with the creation of the characters for this book, I love drawing birds.

PRUEBAS DE COLOR. COLOUR TRIALS

Hice numerosas pruebas de color en formato digital, con el cual trabajo más rápido para mostrar los colores. Aquí os enseño algunas de las paletas de color y con la que nos quedamos finalmente para todo el libro, que es la número 8.

I made many colour trial in digital format, as I work faster  in digital to display the colours. Here I show you some of the colour palettes and the one we finally agree for the whole book, that is the number 8.
